I find it very difficult, if not impossible, to believe that preaching experiences are outright lies. Most of us did belong to this organization where the values were that we must tell the truth. I believe that an afabulator would be quickly spotted, and his lies certainly not endorsed by his hierarchy, even less so in an assembly. Otherwise, we should believe that the whole line of responsible men in the organization are involved in the lying process, from bottom to top, which is just not plausible. There MUST be somewhere on the ladder an honest CO or DO (we all know shat some of them are) to say Stop this nonsense or this lie.

Why do the JWs have such an aversion to philosophy?
by Darth Eowyn ini mean, they seem to avoid it like the plague.
i know people will say that they only need the bible to guide them in life...etc...but i contend that you cannot simply read the bible by yourself; at least without knowing where the philosophical principles contained within the bible come from.
is this aversion of confusing philosophy with faith way over the head of most jws?

Because they have been taught from their young age that to the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh.

Fat Bastard ? I bet it's bottled for the sole american market, never heard of it overhere.
I also feel that somehow wine is like a medicine but I experience almost every day that having it before going to bed causes awakening after a couple of sleep hours, like the above link points it out.

About ten days ago, I bought a deep frozen frangipane pastry (including a hidden charm), which we customarily have overhere to celebrate Epiphany (visit of the three kings to baby Jesus). Mum wasn't at home and Son set out to put it carefully in the oven, then he went up into his room. When the pastry was nice and crispy, Daughter and I had a portion of it without telling Son, left a very small portion in the oven and hid the rest of it. when Son came down, his mouth watering in expectation, he couldn't believe his eyes at seing what was left of the pastry, all the more so when I told him Mom would certainly love to have a share too. He stewed in his wild anger for a minute before we showed him the main part of the pastry.

Actually, making a little joke out of the situation came up to my mind just after the shower, I hadn't planned it and didn't let her think, before the shower, that she was cause for the smell.

about 15 years ago, as the whole family (Mum, Dad, son 5 and daughter 4), we were staying in a fairly cheap hotel which would smell stuffy and cold smoke, and my little daughter would keep whining : it stinks, it stinks. After a while, we had her have a shower and I asked her : is it still stinking ? She said No. So you see, I replied, after you had that shower, doesn't smell so much. She didn't say anything, then after a few seconds she realized what I had said and implied (poor thing, she had obviously nothing to do with that smell) and all of a sudden she burst into cries and loud protestation. To this day we all have a good laugh remembering this episode.

JC question: Do you accept the FDS as God's organization?
by MrMonroe inmy wife and i had stopped going to meetings in april; in december of that year we travelled interstate and stayed with the witness couple who had "brought me into the truth".
we had already told them we'd quit meetings and there was a certain tension in the air for the first couple of days until sunday morning, when, over a breakfast that eventually lasted several hours, they began to interrogate us about why we had left.
had we been stumbled?

The last time 2 elders came to my place, that was about one year ago, one of them asked me that question very shortly after I had started the conversation about being sensible and rational in our beliefs, he obviously had no time to waste in such hair splitting.
My answer was something like : " It depends, if they say that there is one unique god whose name is Jehovah, or Yaweh, in the Bible, I will think that they conform with the Bible. Now, when the president says that Behemoth and Leviathan are locomotives, I think that he is a fantaisist uttering not only errors but nonsense. That's a very serious matter because, can you cite an example of a nonsensical teaching in the Bible ?" The elder replied that there's no nonsense in the Bible but the WTS is Jah's organization despite occasional nonsense told by its leaders because you see, they are just humans. Hopeless.
They never came again and I'm not DFed, they don't seem to bother in the least, so far.
